And in the blink of an eye they were 4 months old

The not-so-babies, Solack turned 4 months old this week.  They seem less like infants everyday. Their personalities are starting to shine and it's so enjoyable to watch them grow. We had our well baby check up today and everyone is doing great! Our weights and heights are:
Dylan- 17.8 pounds 25 and 3/4 inches
Hudson- 14 pounds 24 inches
Sloane- 11.14 pounds 24 inches
The doctor said everyone is developing well and hitting all milestones as they should. That mean old cold is on it's way out of our house and I'm very happy to have survived the first illness.  We were really hoping to get the go ahead from the doc on starting rice cereal, but it's going to have to wait a while longer. Although they are mathematically 4 months old, developmentally they are only 3 months and so that makes them too young for cereal. I know that Dylan is anxiously awaiting something more substantial than milk, and we he finally gets it, there will be no looking back!
We haven't done much outside of the home recently as we've spent most of our time working on a schedule. The kiddos can handle being awake and playful for about an hour and a half before needing a nap, so that really leaves little time for socialization.  I miss the fresh air and other humans, but it's not too big a sacrifice to make when it comes to keeping the kids in sync.  I'm thinking the next few months will bring some big changes and we can start to keep them awake, out and about longer.
We've had some awesome helpers over the last few weeks, and want to thank both of the Davis clans for helping us out and making our lives so much easier! We would be lost without the Solack Village People! Cal and I even got some much needed alone time to go to dinner and Costco, which was thrilling.  During the trip, Cal learned he has a new reflex when a baby belonging to another family began to cry and he automatically began the "Sh Sh Shhhhhh" so frequently used in our house.  It was hysterical and a treat to realize the crying child wasn't one of our own!

An Observation
Parenthood is simultaneously the most empowered and most feeble I've ever felt.  How can I possibly feel strength I've never experienced before and the next moment, as weak as I've ever been?  Perhaps it's from a lack of sleep, or from being on your toes 24/7.  We are embarking on the greatest journey of our lives, one with serious repercussions and the books and resources we've read only scratch the surface of preparedness.  Maybe that is just what parenthood is all about; making your way through everyday knowing that you are doing the absolute best you can with the resources you have and understanding that it will not and cannot be perfect.  It's a delicate balance.

Here is to the best four months of our lives!
