Mama Said There'd be Days Like These
Actually, she did not. No one could have the foresight to predict days like today.
It all started when I told the kids to put their shoes on to get ready to go while I take a quick potty break. Whilst in the bathroom I hear the garage door go up and 3 cackling monkeys running out. I sprint out the door, stopping to grab 4 pairs of shoes, and catch up to them in the backyard. Once I wrangle them into the van, I attempt to go inside to get a towel to wipe off their muddy feet. THE DOOR IS LOCKED...all the doors are locked. I have no phone, no keys, but luckily I do have shoes on. So I set out to case the joint and find that the window above our kitchen sink is open! All I have to do is slit the screen to get in. I move the kids' picnic table so I can use it to climb up and in. As I'm pulling the screen off, the picnic table collapses under me sending me tumbling. This is the point that the morning goes from frustrating to just plain comical. I finally wise up enough to use our sturdy patio furniture to heave my crazy body into the kitchen sink. All this just as the golf course maintenance crew drives by...."Nothing to see here...just a crazy lady breaking and entering into her own home."
Is it ok to start drinking by noon?
All this after we endured a few days of Sloane with a fever. The poor girl was burning up and miserable for about 2 days. It's so sad to see your kids not feeling well. We are very happy that she is back to her plucky ways. One of her new favorite pastimes is flexing her right to have an opinion. An opinion that is always on the contrary. Her new catchphrase is "I don't like________ anymore." It could be anything, grilled cheese, Daddy, breathing. You name it, she doesn't like it anymore. So that's been fun.
Poor baby girl. Asked for a banana, then just held it for 30 min.
More fun times include the unofficial start to potty training. I'm truly trying to follow their lead and not push them, but Hudson is interested in it, so off we go!! Huddy is doing so great, he pee pees on the potty 3-4 times a day. He has even gone number 2! (sorry for the overshare) He loves to sing our pee pee song and we are very proud of him.
Dylan is not as interested in the potty, and that's ok. He is interested in grabbing your hand and telling you to "Follow me!" when you ask him where you are going he says "Don't know". It's pretty cute. He has also been really into trains. He will sit there and play with his choo choo for hours!
Here we go!
We had a very fun filled with weekend that included a visit from Nana and Papa. We went to the zoo for a "Touch a Truck" event, went to the petting zoo and rode the train!! We had a blast!
