It's a Metaphor, Daddy!
(Only true fans of the tv show, Friends will get that title)
As the kids are getting older and more active, I realized recently that a lot of the things I tell the kids can be metaphors for life. For instance we were flying kites and Hudson was getting frustrated that the wind wasn't blowing, to which I said, "Start running, you gotta make your own wind". It's true, you can't always wait for life to send you the perfect kite flying breeze, sometimes you gotta get out there and make your own wind! During the same kite flying expedition, Dylan was frustrated because he didn't let out enough string for his kite to fly high so I told him "You're not giving yourself enough slack". We often don't cut ourselves enough slack. Go easy on yourself, you are doing the best that you can.
We've been riding bikes a lot, and the kids have two speeds for this activity. Dyl and Huddy go mach 5 and Sloane keeps a snails pace. As I was encouraging Sloane to go faster so we could stay together I yelled, "You gotta keep up with the boys". While not a metaphor, it is good life advice-- race with the boys, Sloanie Girl don't ever believe you can't keep up with them.
This week we enjoyed trips to the zoo, and playground. The kids enjoyed a ride on a carousel and had a blast! This weekend we are looking forward to Evan and Sarah's wedding! Please say a little prayer that the kids perform well!! I'm sure there will be plenty of pics to share next week!
These triplets went to the zoo to see the new tiger triplet cubs!

The boys were pretending to be characters from the show Paw Patrol. I love their imagination and how nicely they were playing together
