Please forgive my absence. While it has been quiet on the blog front, it's been anything but quiet in our world. Life has a way of throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, at you all at once. We have a lot to cover in his edition of the blog.
Two weeks ago we surprised the kids first thing in the morning with a trip to visit Bap's farm. The kids love talking about the farm and FaceTiming with my dad to see the cows, dogs and tractors so they were thrilled to get there to see it in real life. We made the 3 hour drive, and I don't think I had the car in park before Huddy jumped out of the car seat and started yelling for Bap. They got to take tractor rides, chase the doggies, and see the newborn calf. The trip also allowed us to visit mommy's best friend from childhood, who brought the kids some butterflies she'd harvested with her students. The kids got a close up look at the butterflies and even released them into the wild. Most even made it out with their wings still attached!! Everyone had a great time, but as the day wore on, it became quite apparent that Sloane was coming down with some kind of illness. So, we made the 3 hour trek back to suburbia, making it home just in time for everyone to go to bed.

This picture was taken one second before Hudson shimmied down and slammed on the gas, launching the Gator forward right toward the barn. Luckily, Bap got it stopped just in time.

I love this picture so much. I'm so lucky to have a best friend that loves my children like they are her own.

How adorable is this photo?
Our next adventure was a far less fun experience. Ya know that illness Sloane was fighting off? Yeah, it hit the 5 of us like a ton of bricks. 2 trips to the pediatrician, several bottles of Motrin, and 0 days of school attended later, and we still don't know for sure what the culprit was. The kids suffered from high fevers, coughs, the chills, runny noses...the works. It was a supremely rough week.

We really hoped that the bug would kindly exit our household before the weekend, because we had huge plans. Nana and Papa made the trip in for Easter weekend. In addition to the usual Easter festivities, we also had plans to take the trio to the Ohio State Spring Football game! It was to be their first experience in the 'Shoe, and I was beyond excited to take them. Fortunately, the kids felt good enough to go, and lasted an entire 20 minutes before they began asking to go home. When we got home they said their favorite part was when they raised the American Flag. It wasn't what I pictured as their first experience, but they've been asking to go back and saying they had fun. Maybe we will try again next year.

All eyes on the Buckeyes!

Sloane refused to wear the Scarlet and Grey outfit I picked out for her, instead choosing to wear a tutu dress. She explained that she was a "Buckeye Princess, not just a Buckeye."...Ok then. |

It got a little rainy, but we braved the weather
Next up was Easter Sunday and the kids were beyond excited to hunt for eggs and their baskets. It was a whirlwind morning, and we didn't even get a good family picture while we were in our Sunday best.

Easter dinner, after a super fun, crazy day
This week we've been trying to get back to our regular routine and trying to get healthy as well. Still not 100% healthy yet, but definitely on the mend. We've been back to school, and back to our usual fun, playing ways. Looking forward to a quiet weekend here!
