Nesting...like a boss!

And Other Updates on our Ornery Brood

Would someone write a new post on this blog already?!?  Bunch of slackers running this joint, I'll tell ya.

The past few weeks have been crazy as we grow (see what I did there?) closer to the due date.  We've been busy preparing the house for these kiddos.  And by "we",  I mean that I've been in full on nesting mode and poor Cal has been graciously tacking every insane task I request.  He has been a champ through this whole process and I'm incredibly grateful for his help.
The nursery is about 95% done, we are just waiting for a rocking chair to be delivered and to put a few final touches on it.  Stay tuned for the final reveal, hopefully soon!  One ginormous task we tackled with the help of Aunt Lara was organizing the dresser and closet.  After spending weeks washing every stitch of material that might possibly come in contact with our babies, the daunting task of "where do we put all of this?" loomed large.  Cal installed the new closet organizer and Lara and I found a home for everything!

Step 1: Clean out closet.  Those ought to last us about 4 days

Step 2: Measure twice, cut 6 times.

Step 3: Enjoy!
While it took much longer than we expected, the outcome was well worth the effort (easy for me to say!)  We now have a much more efficient and effective space to store everything, which makes me one happy Mama-to-be!

Nursery preview! Also, who put a beach ball up my shirt?!?!

File this under, "All That Payback our Parents Wished Upon Us"

Another adventure we recently embarked upon was undergoing "Non-stress tests" for the babies.  Which essentially amounts to hooking each one up to a fetal monitor and watching their heartbeats.  Seemed easy enough....
Dylan was up first, the nurse found his heartbeat quickly and he sat patiently for the duration of the test.  His heartbeat was strong and it was determined that he is one healthy kiddo.  Next up was Hudson, with not quite the same experience.  Little Huddy Buddy apparently thought it was a game of Hide and Seek!  Each time the nurse would find his (rapid!) heartbeat, he'd kick the monitor and move to a new position, forcing the nurse to try again...and again...and again.  It was so funny, and so "Hudson".  We had, practically, the entire staff in the room watching him play.  Proving yet again that he will be our handful, and we can't wait to have our hands full of him!!  They finally got a good reading on him and he is of course very happy and healthy as well.

Dylan's heartbeat is the bottom number and Hudson's is the top.  Seriously,  how old is this machine??

Sloane was last up, and the nurse was able to find her heartbeat relatively easily.  However, she was so mellow, and her heart rate was so consistent (part of the test is to see the heart rate rise and fall) they had to use a little "buzzer" tool that sends vibrations to her.  This definitely woke her up and she did exactly what they were hoping for!  We were happy to learn that we have three happy and healthy little babies!
One side effect of the test results being so positive was that the doc decided that it was unnecessary to also do an ultrasound.  So, unfortunately, we didn't get to see or measure them.  The other side effect was that we were able to schedule the C-Section for June 24th at 2pm!

Don't worry, it's on the calendar so we won't forget.

One last item of note is that Friday was my last day at work!  I'm officially on Maternity Leave : ) Which means one thing: Even more time to devote to insane nesting behavior! Yay!!!

We have another appointment Monday afternoon, I'll be certain to update everyone afterwards!
