Crazy 8

The kiddos turn 8 months old today and have hit some major developmental milestones recently.  In addition to crawling, Sloane and Dylan are climbing, pulling themselves up and standing up on anything and everything in sight.  Hudson is in the beginning stages of army crawling and is chatting up a storm.  Unfortunately for us, that means that sleep (again) is rare.  Something nobody told me prior to motherhood is that when babies learn a new skill, they are very excited and want to practice all the time.  Even through the night.  And so, after a few weeks of good sleep, here we are again up all night.  Sloane has made sleep especially challenging.  She learned to pull herself up in her crib and would prefer to stand in it rather than sleep in it.  The catch 22 that we are in right now is that, though we don't want to indulge her calls for playtime and attention, we can't ignore her either as she will quickly wake her brothers.  So we are in a pretty fierce battle right now.
We've started introducing some finger foods in the form of fruit flavored puffs.  The intention with these is for them to practice some fine motor skills, practice gumming foods, and also distract them for a few minutes.  Hudson and Sloane took to them pretty well and though they gave me a look of "What in the world is this mommy?" they seemed to enjoy the experience overall.  Dylan, was a different story.  Instead of chewing, he decided to simply swallow the cheerio type of snack, which resulted in lots of gagging and approximately 6 ounces of milk being spewed back at us.  After a few more practice tries, he is getting better with the new skill.
We had a fun play date with our friends Camden and Vivienne, and really had a blast.   Don't you think Cam and Sloane make a cute couple?? The kids crawled and rolled all over each other, shared toys (and by "shared" I mean took them from one another) and giggled at each other.  I think the mommies had even more fun!  Thanks to Becca and Kelly for bringing their sweet kiddos over!

Cam is getting in some serious snuggle time with Sloane...Look out Prince George, you have some serious competition.
