Stuff We Can Do

I want to warn you that this post may appear to be boastful and brag-ridden.  However, I assure you that its intentions are pure.  One of the many purposes of our blog is that I plan to use it as an alternative to a baby book for the kids.  Thus, I wanted to share with you (and Dyl, Huddy and Sloane) the way cool things our kiddos can do these days...ya know, for posterity's sake.

Ok, and maybe I'm a little proud, too!

Physically- there isn't anything they can't climb.  Which actually comes in handy on occasion.  I never have to put them in their highchairs or car seats, never have to carry them up the stairs or lift them up for anything.  So we will focus on the positive here, instead of dwelling on the fact that Hudson climbs the bookcases. (eek)
They are also loving riding bikes and the cozy coupe.  At the moment, they just ride the bikes they can glide on, though I bet Dylan will figure out how to pedal the tricycle by next week.  We had the opportunity to head back out to the playground recently and it was amazing to see the things they could do this spring that they couldn't do last fall.  They are able to climb ladders, and various other structures.  It was super fun and not at all heart attack inducing.

Who doesn't like riding bikes in your
skivvies first thing in the morning?

Think we like riding our bikes?

Mentally- we've been focusing on colors, shapes and letters recently.  For some reason Sloane can recognize the letter P.  I have no idea why that's the only letter she knows, but it's a good place to start I guess.  All three recognize circle and star, we are still working on triangle and square.  Honestly, I think they know them (they can match them) but saying them is pretty tricky.  We can all identify pink and blue colors, and can occasionally get yellow right.  Hudson is amazing at shape sorting, and puzzle completing.  Dylan is outstanding at finishing the next word that comes in a book.  When I read I stop at the last word on the page and he can fill in the blank (we read the same book 77 times a day).  We can all undress ourselves and Sloane can put her socks, pants and shoes on all by herself.

Socially- our manners are amazing! I shared on Facebook that Dylan burped at breakfast and Sloane said "excuse you".  They always say thank you, and bless you after a sneeze or cough.  Sharing is tough, but occasionally I'll see Hudson give one of his siblings a toy or book and say "here you go".  They are doing awesome at the YMCA daycare and I'm told they are very helpful with the infants in the room, and they also love being read to by the older kids.  Usually when we drop off at the Y, 2 kids ride in the stroller and 1 walks while holding my hand.  Well today, 1 rode in the stroller and 2 held hands while we walked in the building.  I'm so proud of their listening, and direction following.

Musically- I'd bet almost anything that one day they will be a famous singing group (move over Jonas Brothers!) Their favorite songs are Row, Row, Row Your Boat, Let it Go, and Skinnamarink (from the Elephant Show).  They sing all.  day.  long. (when they aren't whining that is)

I'm sure I've forgotten some items...but there you have it.  The list of things we can do.  Now, if they could just stop throwing their food.

Dyl says "Happy Thursday!"

Huddy loves playing with the felt shapes on the felt wall
