If you aren't in over your head, how do you know how tall you are?

It's the little things
I very often get asked if life with triplets has gotten easier as they've gotten older. The correct answer is yes and no. We've gone from trying to simply keep them alive and healthy to practically being terrorist negotiators. While we are not awake around the clock feeding, burping and constantly wondering why they are crying, now they can tell us why they are crying, which is helpful. What's not helpful is that they are crying because their graham cracker is broken, or I gave them the wrong spoon, or their sock is crooked. I am leaning towards feeling that these days are easier to handle than infant days. It's the little everyday things that they do or say that makes life easier and funnier. These days they can peel their own clementines, and eat whole apples and bananas. I spend FAR less time cutting and peeling food these days! They are getting excellent at putting on their own clothes, so that is quite the time saver as well, they are often on backwards, but on they are! Recently they've been very helpful with prepping and cleaning up from meals. I can ask them to get something out of the fridge or cupboard and they are pretty good at following directions (a side-effect of this new skill is that I often find toys in the freezer. Also, they've been pretty entertaining lately, singing new songs, trying to figure out why it's dark at dinner time and still dark when we wake up. It's very fun to see them try to work things out and figure out this crazy world we live in. Last night as I was up at 4am with Hudson he needed to talk to me about things that are "Daddy's Job and Mommy's job" and at one point he told me "we take care of mommy". So while we are still awake at nights, at least it is entertaining!
Ya know....just doing normal things....eating applesauce with our socks on our hands.
This weekend we are hosting our annual Christmas party and can't wait to see all our wonderful friends, neighbors and family! And so as Sloane inquired yesterday "what are you going to wear?" I guess it is off to the mall I go!
Have a great weekend!
