Adventures in Motherhood

Our 7th month begins with the side effects of cabin fever combined with a little hubris (thanks for the inspiration, Richard Sherman).  That combo resulted in me deciding it was high time that we get out of the house for some fun.  Feeling quite confident, I declared that once a day, I was going to take one of the babes and head out into the world.  Armed with said confidence, our first adventure was to include Dylan and Baby Storytime at the library.  Although running a little late, I was proud that we made it on the road, and Dyl was visibly excited to be out of the house. We arrived at the library to find that it was in fact closed for the MLK holiday.  Feeling a bit dejected, but not defeated we decided to head to the local play cafe; a place where tired mommies can get a jolt of caffeine and kiddos are welcomed.  As we pulled in, we noticed the parking lot was empty...not a good sign.  Also not a good sign was the one on the door notifying us that the establishment was closed.  For those of you keeping score; MLK Day: 2 Mommy and Dyl: 0.  The wind was out of our sails for sure at this point, however, there is always Target!  I made the 10 minute drive to the store, parked (full lot by the way!) and opened the back door to find a sleeping baby Dylan.  It was at this point that I conceded defeat, and headed home.  Dyl slept the entire way, and even through me pulling him into the house. When we got home I found that Hudson and Sloane were taking their naps, too.  “Perfect” I thought, at least we will still all be on the same schedule, if nothing else.  I very gently placed a now roused but drowsy Dylan in his crib and slipped out of the nursery.  The nursery was quiet for all of 30 seconds, until Mr. Dyl Pickle decided that he had plenty of rest, Hudson as well, whom he awoke with his pterodactyl screams.  The score now you ask? MLK Day: 4 Mommy: 0.   Thankfully Sloane slept peacefully throughout the whole ordeal, so I guess I’ll take a point for that, it’s 4 to 1 now.
We might not leave the house for another 7 months : )

Just kidding, I don’t go down that easily.  We will try again Wednesday.  Wish Hudson and I good luck!

Dylan doing some very serious investigating

I know this barely looks like him, but here's Hudson not wanting his pic taken.

Shortly after this picture was taken, Sloane pulled herself up on this toy.
Tune back in Thursday for our weekly group picture!
