Brrrrrr

With the Polar Vortex taking aim at us this week, our agenda has included:

Snuggle
Drink coffee
Cuddle
Sit by the fire
Drink hot chocolate
Look outside and say "Brrr, looks cold out there"
Repeat

One nice thing about the beyond freezing temps is that Daddy got a "Snow Day" Tuesday and was able to stay home with us.  The real crummy thing about the beyond freezing temps was losing power (again).  It had been in the back of all of our minds for a few days, but no one would dare say out loud, "I hope we don't have a power outage".  Our superstitions weren't enough to keep the electricity on.  Thankfully it was only out from about 8am-11am Tuesday and the temperature in the house only got down to 63 degrees.  All in all it wasn't too bad, but definitely a scary few hours.

Other items of note in the Solack household are the movers and shakers of Scioto Parkway.  Gone are the days when I could safely put the kiddos on the floor, walk into another room and return with them in the same position.  While not technically crawling anywhere, make no mistake about it, these babes are mobile.  Turning my back for one second results in Sloane maneuvering to the sharpest corner of the coffee table, or Dylan grabbing a fistful of Hudson's Face and proceeding to go in for a taste of his ear.  Anyone know where I can go to get a pair of eyes implanted in the back of my head like all our moms had?

Today we celebrate 29 weeks, and the thought of planning their first birthday has officially engrossed my mind!

Happy Babies!

We've had to lower Dylan's crib mattress, as he figured out a way to pull himself up using the bumper.  I used to think that he would be my rule follower and enforcer, but recently he's shown a pretty ornery side that has me rethinking my earlier hypothesis.  He is constant motion (hence the blurry pics) and has us cracking up around the clock.  We have to buy him 12-18 month sized clothing and he is officially stronger than me.  He sticks out his tongue quite a lot screeches like a pterodactyl when he is excited.

Sloane is obsessed with her feet and usually has them in her mouth, which makes diaper changes a fun challenge.  She has become a human garbage disposal and will eat the legs off the table these days (a far cry from just a few months ago when getting her to drink 4 ounces was nearly impossible).  We've yet to find a food she doesn't like.  She become a bit of a pistol recently, requiring a lot of snuggling and undivided attention.  We love to give it to her, but being outnumbered doesn't make it easy.  She's learned how to gargle and makes sounds like Chewbacca from Star Wars all the time.  For such a tiny little girl, she is LOUD!  She is the true embodiment of the Shakespeare quote "Though she be but little, she is fierce".

Hudson is such the charmer.  He has recently perfected the cutest little smirk.  He squints his eyes, scrunches up his nose, and grins from ear to ear.  I can see him getting out of quite a few sticky predicaments by flashing that smirk.  He loves to eat, and shows us by saying "MMmmMMmmmMM" after every bite, which is devastatingly adorable.  Another pastime he loves is being naked in his crib.  We put him in there with just his diaper on before his bath and he rolls and wiggles around, giggling the whole time.
